Ut shooting took place on the University of Texas-Austin campus this morning. Campus shooter believed to be student Authorities are awaiting identification by the medical examiner.
Alert Update: Campus Shooter Confirmed Dead; No Other Injuries Reported;
The person involved in this morning’s shooting on campus has been confirmed dead on the sixth floor of the Perry-Castañeda Library from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
No other injuries have been reported.
The university’s alert system warned students, faculty and staff to stay in place or off campus.

The university is closed.
Due to the events of today, the campus is closed. Unless you are needed for essential operations, all faculty, staff and students are urged to leave campus. Students who live on campus may return to their residence halls.
Because the area around the Perry Castenada Library (PCL) is an actively investigated crime scene it is urged that area be avoided. As you leave the campus, please exit the campus from north exits.

Police and university officials will provide an update for the shooting on The University of Texas at Austin campus Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010.
When: 12:15 p.m., Tuesday
Where: AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center, Room 201. Enter from Whitis Avenue on the west side of the building. Maps of The University of Texas at Austin are available online.
