India’s Official Entry For Oscars 2010 Peepli Live For Best Foregin Language Film

Kudos to Aamir Khan productions, After Lagaan, his latest release Peepli [Live] has been selected as 2010′s India’s official entry to the Oscars in the Best Foreign Language Film category. After Lagaan, this is the second time that an Aamir Khan Production’s film has been selected to compete at the prestigious Academy Awards. However, now it remains to be seen whether Peepli [Live] will get short listed by the Academy to compete at the Oscars2010.

Peepli [Live] is the story of Natha, a poor farmer from Peepli village who is about to lose his plot of land due to an unpaid government loan. A quick fix to the problem is the very same government’s program that aids the families of indebted farmers who have committed suicide. As a means of survival, Natha can choose to die. However, Political bigwigs, high-ranking bureaucrats, local henchmen and the ever-zealous media descend upon sleepy Peepli to stake their claim of this situation. via

Movie ANJAANI ANJAANI Release Date Postponed to 1st October 2010.
With the Ayodhya verdict deferred to next week, rumours started flying fast and furious within the industry that ANJAANA ANJAANI has been postponed yet again. The film was pushed from 24th September to 1st October and was now rescheduled for 8th October. Aamir Khan made 24 friends during his two-week promotional tour across the country and has invited them all to attend the premiere of his film “3 Idiots” here Wednesday.

“Wherever I went, I made friends and I have invited them. All of them will surely come to the premiere,” said Aamir told reporters at Taj Lands End here.
“There are 24 people whom I have invited personally. They are those people whom I met in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Punjab. They are my guests,” said Aamir.
During his trip, only one girl recognised Aamir through his disguise in Tamil Nadu.
Asked if she was invited to the premiere, he said: “No I didn’t invite her because I didn’t speak to her. I have only invited whom I met and made friends with.”

3 Idiots has the Aamir Khan-Sharman Joshi –Madhavan team of Rang De Basanti joining hands with director Raj Kumar Hirani who directed the very popular Lagey Raho Munnabhai .

Producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra is making all the arrangements for Aamir’s special guests.
“They will stay in Taj Lands End hotel. Rooms have been booked and cars will be there at their service,” said Chopra.
Releasing Friday, the film is directed by Rajkumar Hirani and also stars Kareena Kapoor and Sharman Joshi and R. Madhavan.
Aamir wasn’t sure whether Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan are invited for the premiere show, but Chopra confirmed their presence saying: “I have invited them and they have confirmed that they will come.”
